For a while now, TANAPA has been offering conservation education to communities near National Parks through various methods. However, limited staff, resources, and the vast size of the park areas have hindered community access to effective and comprehensive conservation education.

Recognizing the scarcity of resources and the significance of conservation education for the community, the organization’s management has acknowledged the need to develop a program involving Maarifa ya Jamii teachers in fifth grade primary schools and Geography teachers in form two in secondary schools. The goal of this program is to expand conservation education to schools near the parks, reaching a wider audience.

Between 2021 and 2022, the organization created books for teachers to use in delivering conservation education in schools near all National Parks. We are thrilled to have been a part of the process of creating these books, from the initial idea to content development and the final creative presentation. These books are intended to improve teachers’ knowledge and understanding of environmental conservation issues, allowing them to effectively communicate this information to their students. Being involved in this project has made a significant impact on our team.
